Creating spaces where inclusion is practised, not just intended.
How do we create spaces where people with different lived experiences can participate, learn, share and feel that they belong?
Brave Spaces recognise that when people come together across difference, discomfort and mistakes can happen. Rather than striving for perfection or promising a space free from conflict, we practise how to stay present, respond when harm occurs, and continue learning together.
Through reflection, collective exercises and embodied practices, this workshop explores how we can create spaces that make room for difference, curiosity, accountability and meaningful participation.
BRAVE SPACES
Creating spaces where inclusion is practised, not just intended.
A one-day experiential workshop for facilitators, educators, space holders and anyone working with groups.
Brave Spaces
-
Safe Spaces → Brave Spaces
What can we realistically promise when we invite people into a space? Explore the principles of Brave Spaces and how they differ from the idea of safety as the absence of discomfort or conflict.
-
Equality → Equity
Explore the difference between treating everyone the same and recognising that different histories, identities and circumstances shape what people need in order to participate.
-
From perfectionism → learning
How can we create cultures where people can ask questions, make mistakes and remain accountable without fear of getting everything “right”?
-
Embodied inclusion
What happens in our bodies when discomfort, difference or conflict arises? Through simple grounding, breath and awareness practices, we explore how facilitators can notice their own responses, remain present and make more conscious choices.
